Climate change and the impact of new technologies on culture and especially on the world of work generate dynamic and changing scenarios that mainly affect young people from different cultures, whose destiny is to participate in today and simultaneously project a livable future with more excellent social balance.
Young people are not satisfied with the reality of rights inequality and the limitations of access to a good life. In this better life, there is an excellent distribution of wealth and respect for the sustainable nature of human needs and the cultures in which they are inserted.
The SIGNIS Youth Desk, aware of these issues involving them as protagonists, wants to dialogue with other peers, exchange ideas, listen to different voices, and develop thoughts for concrete actions.
With the support of SIGNIS ALC, the SIGNIS region that contains the Amazon, which, according to German Rey, a Colombian researcher and thinker, ” is the region of the world that makes us think about the world,” we understand that it is the territoriality from which we can offer a different look at the problems that afflict a globalized world.
In a spirit of listening to the different voices, their problems, and everyday needs, which governments will address in the 2030 agenda, precisely in this Latin American territory, young people want to anticipate creating a path of proposals for transformative action in terms of social justice.
That is why by October 2025, SIGNIS youth are organizing to put together thematic agendas that address issues such as Climate Crisis, Education and Employment, Mental Health, Technology and Communication, Urgency of collective action, etc … An agenda is still open to proposals aligned to the objectives.
The work will be of collective action, where organizations allied to SIGNIS will join.
Aware that the forum is a transcendent event, the SIGNIS Youth Desk calls on all organization members to mobilize the institution to support it with all its potential and resources.
The forum’s realization is conceived as a point of arrival and, at the same time, as a starting point so that young people can develop projects and programs that strengthen the SIGNIS communication mission in the next five years.
Rio de Janeiro 2025 (Brazil), the venue of the Youth Forum, is an opportunity that prepares us for the SIGNIS World Congress 2026 in Rwanda (Africa). There, we can share experiences that will nurture the youth vision and the future path of our beloved organization.
