(SIGNIS ALC). The 22nd Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema, BAFICI, will take place from 17 to 28 March and will combine on-site and virtual activities. This particular edition will have twenty venues and an online platform developed for the festival, giving access to the entire programme in the Argentine Republic.
Once again, SIGNIS will participate with an international Jury in the main section of the films in competition at this festival, one of the most important in the region. Pamela Aleman, vice-president of SIGNIS North America, Oscariny Hennig, vice-president of SIGNIS Venezuela and Marcelo Fernandez, member of the board of SIGNIS Argentina, have been appointed members of the Jury.
After the cancellation of last year’s edition due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organisers have brought forward its usual date in 2021 from April to March, which will favour outdoor activities as Buenos Aires will be at the end of the summer.
“We are very happy to be able to revive BAFICI in such a complex time. This event aims to continue to be a platform for independent cinema and to attract new audiences,” said the Minister of Culture of the city of Buenos Aires, Enrique Avogadro.
The international juries and the Argentine public will be able to view the films in the different sections on the CINANDO platform.
