Youth SIGNIS Communicators Called to Shape the Future of Faith-Based Digital Media

Young SIGNIS communicators worldwide have a unique opportunity to pioneer the future of faith-based digital media through The Vatican’s “Faith Communication in the Digital World” project, now entering its fifth edition. This initiative, coordinated by the Dicastery for Communication of the Holy See, aims to select 16 dynamic young individuals who will engage in an intensive, hands-on training experience designed to elevate the Church’s voice in the digital era.

Building on the successful outcomes of previous editions, the 2025 program emphasizes practical, real-world experience. Participants will attend weekly online sessions and undertake rigorous group and individual assignments, honing their digital storytelling and strategic communication skills under the guidance of seasoned Catholic communicators and international media experts.

A central highlight of the program is an immersive week-long residential experience scheduled for September 2025 in Rome. This intensive session will feature workshops, in-depth discussions, and advanced digital media training. Participants’ travel and accommodation will be fully covered, enabling them to focus entirely on developing innovative strategies to communicate faith and spirituality to global audiences effectively.

This edition seeks to deepen participants’ understanding of synodal dialogue, reflecting Pope Francis’ vision of mutual listening and community engagement. Candidates will gain exposure to new methodologies for navigating the rapidly changing landscape of social media, learning how to leverage these platforms to disseminate content, create meaningful connections, and foster inclusive conversations about faith.

SIGNIS communicators are encouraged to apply, as their commitment to excellence in Catholic media aligns perfectly with the objectives of this Vatican-led initiative. The selection criteria emphasize candidates aged 35 or under, fluent in English, and possessing a strong background in digital media, communication strategy, visual/graphic design, or content creation. Applicants must also demonstrate their active involvement in or willingness to serve Catholic communities through media and digital engagement.

The program notably emphasizes collaboration with regions experiencing marginalization, allowing participants to engage directly with communities where the Church’s voice is less heard. This year, the project specializes in fostering ties with communities in the Asian region, broadening cultural horizons, and deepening the global exchange of best practices in digital evangelization.

Applications are open until March 23rd, 2025. Prospective participants must submit their applications, samples of previous work, a letter of recommendation from an ecclesiastical authority or recognized Catholic organization, and a concise two-minute video presentation. After submission, shortlisted candidates will undergo online interviews, and the final group of 16 communicators will be announced by April 16th, 2025.

SIGNIS communicators interested in shaping the next era of faith communication are invited to apply immediately. This initiative is an unparalleled opportunity to innovate, connect, and significantly impact how the Catholic faith is communicated in an increasingly digital world.
